The kWh per kilometer is also included for convenience.
Interestingly, the models with larger wheels consume more electricity per mile than their smaller wheel counterparts.
The smaller wheel models can travel around 0.01 – 0.02 miles further per kWh compared to their larger wheel counterparts.
This appears to be due to the weight difference.
The larger wheel models are 33 lbs heavier by default (excluding any optional extras).
For example, the 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring with 19in wheels weighs 5,203 lbs and uses 0.26 kWh per mile. On the other hand, the 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring with 21in wheels weighs 5,236 lbs and consumes 0.28 kWh per mile.
So how does this impact the cost per mile? Let’s take a look.
Lucid Air cost per mile
It costs between $0.039 and $0.045 per mile, in electricity, to drive a Lucid Air EV.
This assumes you charge at home and have a kWh rate of $0.15.
The Lucid Air cost per mile varies by model.
The table below shows the cost per mile for each Lucid Air model.

Again, the electricity costs listed assume $0.15 per kWh.
Speaking of costs, let’s take a look at how you can reduce the cost of charging a Lucid Air.
How to reduce the cost of charging your Lucid Air
It takes a lot of electricity to fully charge Lucid Air EVs – as much as 118 kWh.
For perspective, US households consume 877 kWh of electricity per month, on average, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Charging a Lucid Air fully equates to 13.45% of the total monthly electricity usage of the average US household.
Introducing a Lucid Air to a non-EV US household can take the monthly consumption from 877 kWh to 995 kWh…and that’s just with 1 full charge per month.
Charging a Lucid Air twice per month can increase the average US homeowners monthly electricity usage by 26.9%.
So with this in mind, let’s take a look at how you can reduce the cost of charging the Lucid Air, and electric cars in general.
I listed 6 simple tips to reduce the cost of charging your electric car at home, here.
But a key tip that I want to highlight here, that could save you 50% on your charging costs, is to charge at night if you have a night saver tariff. If you don’t, consider getting in touch with your energy provider to see if you can avail of this cost saving opportunity and to see if it’s suitable for you in general.
Night saver tariffs tend to have significant discounts on the price you pay per kWh consumed during off-peak hours.
This means that putting your Lucid Air on charge overnight will help keep your charging costs low.
There’s also less environmental impact that comes with charging during off-peak hours, but I won’t get into that here.
Modern premium electric cars tend to offer smart or scheduled charging, which helps ensure that you charge at cheaper and more environment-friendly hours.
The Lucid app offers this functionality.
However, for those that don’t have EVs with this feature, similar functionality is offered by some Level 2 home charging stations.
Amazon’s #1 best selling EV charging station, the ChargePoint Home Flex Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger offers smart charging.
It’s also Energy Star certified, which means it’s a more efficient charger than most. It offers many other benefits too, so if you’re in the market for a quality Level 2 EV charger and would like to avail of cheaper night rates, check it out on Amazon, here.

Final thoughts
Lucid Air electric cars are premium vehicles that are more eco-friendly than their gas guzzling counterparts.
However, they are electricity guzzlers.
According to eia.gov, about 63% of electricity in the US is generated by burning fossil fuels. The good news is that about 50% of US households have access to Green energy already, and this figure is increasing.
If you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint even more, why not ask your energy provider about their Green energy options?
