Small, personal, portable mini fridges are tiny compared to their larger counterparts.

Small mini fridges have a size dimension range of 9.5” to 16” in height, 6.8” to 15” in width and 9.7” to 13” in depth. Their capacity size ranges from 0.14 cu ft to 0.71 cu ft.

The most typical small mini fridge size is 10.7” tall, 7.5” wide and 9.5” deep. These dimensions increase inline with capacity size. 

The most popular small mini fridges, in terms of sales, have a capacity of 0.14 cu ft (4 L).

Larger mini fridge sizes range from 14” to 65.6” in height, and 14.6” to 36.3” in width, while their capacity sizes start at 1 cu ft and reach as large as 7.6 cu ft.

Larger mini fridges have an average height of 31.98”, an average width of 19.54”, and an average storage capacity of 3.6 cu ft (101.9 L).

Some large mini fridges are actually shorter than small mini fridges due to their style (e.g. chest and built-in drawer styles). But their width is substantially larger, which brings them into the large mini fridge category.

Taking the title of the second smallest mini fridge is the CURTIS MIS133PEP, with dimensions of 6.85″ W x 9.72″ H x 9.72″ D, and a capacity of 0.14 cu ft.

Due to the wide variety of mini fridge sizes, other models can be smaller in certain dimensions. However, their overall size is still larger.

For example, the Living Enrichment ‎CBA-6L is shorter in height but its larger width and depth results in an overall larger mini fridge, compared to the units mentioned.

They’re so small that they’re considered to be “countertop” fridges, and they’re considerably smaller than the smallest compact refrigerators that can meet ENERGY STAR certification requirements.

So what’s the smallest large / under the counter mini fridge that is ENERGY STAR certified?

The smallest under the counter mini fridge is the Danby DAR010A1, which measures in at 19.3 inches tall, 15.1 inches wide, and boasts a capacity of 1 cu ft.

This energy efficient compact mini fridge reaches ENERGY STAR certification. But let’s go one step further and identify the smallest mini fridge that attained the “ENERGY STAR Most Efficient” label.

The smallest mini fridge that achieves the coveted “Most Efficient” title is the RCA ‎RFR115, which is 19 inches tall (with leveling feet minimized), 17.4 inches wide, and has a capacity of 1.6 cu ft. 

This efficient mini fridge is also the smallest mini fridge by height out of all freestanding, under-the-counter-style, compact fridges.

But which is the narrowest mini fridge?

The narrowest standard mini fridge is the Whynter BOR-326FS, which is just 14.6 inches wide and 33.5 inches tall. This energy efficient mini fridge boasts a 3.2 cu ft capacity.

Again, different to the countertop mini fridges listed previously, these are the compact mini fridges that are bigger, usually placed under the counter, freestanding units that are ENERGY STAR certifiable & certified.

This unit measures in at just 17.4” W, 19” H, 18.9” D, and has an overall capacity of 1.6 cu ft. The freezer compartment has a capacity of 0.2 cu ft.

Another standout model that has slightly larger dimensions overall, but a considerably larger freezer, is the popular Black + Decker BCRK17.

This mini fridge with freezer is one of the smallest standard mini fridges on the market, just behind the model mentioned above.

It measures in at 17.52” W x 19.72” H x 18.5” D, which is fractionally smaller than even the smallest standard size mini fridge.

The freezer size, however, is considerably large for such a small fridge coming in at 8 inches wide, 2 inches tall, and 1 cu ft capacity.

Measuring in at 36.25″ W x 37.4″ H x 27.5″ D, with a capacity of 7.6 cu ft, this energy efficient mini fridge is the largest refrigerator that’s still considered mini or compact.

Fridges that have a capacity larger than 7.6 cu ft are not considered compact / mini.

It’s worth noting that the most eco-friendly mini fridge is the least power consuming model that meets the user’s needs.

There are mini fridges that consume less electricity annually, but no unit consumes less electricity per cu ft of storage.

It’d be inaccurate to assume that smaller mini fridges are more eco-friendly.
